Habitat Helps Another Family
June 15, 2011
Habitat for Humanity has helped another Decatur County family into their own home. Sunday afternoon a ceremony was held at the Broughton Street home officially turning it over to Paula Jones and her 2 daughters.
Bill Bower, president of the local Habitat for Humanity presents a hammer and a bible to Ms Jones.
During the home's rehabilitation process, the Jones family put in their "sweat equity" which is required by all habitat recipients. Bainbridge High School's FFA donated their efforts cleaning the overgrown property and taking care of the landscaping. Mr. Bower also pointed out that they benefit from the courts assigning Habitat for Humanity projects as the community service portion of sentences.
Stone’s Home Centers donated the home to the local Habitat for Humanity. The home is an approximately 1700 sq ft containing 4 bedrooms and 3 baths.
Mr. Bower stated that the group is always looking for donations, but cautions they are only able to utilize donated houses that are not in too bad of shape. Habitat for Humanity is a tax-exempt 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization and your gift is tax-deductible. If you are willing to make any type of donation, please contact Bill Bower at 246-2327.
